Meaning of the Arrow Symbol
The arrow is a graphic sign, used to mark or indicate the direction, being a simple shape composed of a segment with a triangle on one side, and in more complex shapes the representation of the current pretty arrows symbols. The direction (down, up, right, left) is that which continues along the length of the line towards the end covered by a triangle.

Alt Codes to text arrow symbols on keyboard in windows
The alternate code shortcut works on all MS Windows desktops and many laptops. Press Alt and while holding it, type a certain Alt code on the numeric keypad while it is activated. You can type many frequently used symbols with alt codes.

Alt + Num shortcuts – how to enter characters that are not on the keyboard
There are additional commands for entering characters that are not available with a conventional keyboard. These commands are called Alt codes and are referred to as “Alt + NUM”, where “NUM” is the number of characters you type on the numeric keypad.
To write the desired character in Windows, press the Alt key with one hand and while holding it down, with the other hand enter the required number on the numeric keypad. After dialing numbers, release the Alt key – a symbol will appear.
For example, to insert an em dash, press the Alt key , type the numbers 0 1 5 1 on the keyboard and release Alt – you get an em dash.
